Employment

There are currently 1.3 million employees subject to social insurance contributions registered in the Stuttgart region. Of these, 0.3% work in the primary sector (agriculture, forestry and fishing), around 32% in the secondary sector (manufacturing) and around 67% in the tertiary sector (services). A comparison with the rest of Germany shows that the manufacturing sector in the Stuttgart Region continues to account for a higher proportion than in many other regions.
