RELEX - The express bus for the Stuttgart region
Direct, comfortable and at the VVS fare - these are the features of the regional express bus RELEX, which has been in regular service since December 2016. It primarily supplements the S-Bahn network with important cross-connections. With its few intermediate stops, it travels quickly and is an attractive travel alternative thanks to many extras such as charging sockets and WiFi, whether for day trippers or commuters. With folding tables and reading lamps as well as additional luggage compartments, it appeals to different target groups. The express bus routes run every hour from 5 a.m. to midnight. On Saturdays the express buses start at 6 am, on Sundays at 7 am. In addition, lines X10, X20 and X93 run every 30 minutes from Monday to Friday during rush hour.
There are currently four lines in the region:
- X10 Kirchheim (Teck) - Stuttgart Airport/Messe( timetable/route)
- X20 Waiblingen - Esslingen( timetable/route)
- X60 Leonberg - Stuttgart Airport/Messe( timetable/route)
- X93 Göppingen - Lorch( timetable/route) since 2021: runs every hour throughout the day
In the medium term, an all-day extension of the half-hourly service from Monday to Friday is being considered, and a new direct connection from Kirchheim (Teck) via Bad Boll to Göppingen is also being considered. Above all, the express bus offers the opportunity to react quickly where, for example, an S-Bahn extension would be helpful but would take a long time to implement or where the construction of new rail lines is not economically feasible.
